Membership Guidelines

Welcome to the Scottsdale Alliance Networking Group. This networking group is a not-for-profit group. All dues collected go directly to the actual costs incurred by the group for supplies, speakers, name badges, etc. Any dues remaining at the end of the year will be distributed either to: charity, mixer for the members, returned in the form of dividend, etc.

Although this group is an independent networking group, certain guidelines are necessary for the group to function in a healthy and productive manner. Listed below are the guidelines that have been established.

1. Only one person from each profession is admitted to our networking group. The membership committee addresses any conflicts that may occur. An individual member cannot be part of another networking group that allows only one person per profession and whose primary purpose is to pass referrals to one another. The reason for this is promote commitment to our group members.

2. The weekly meetings run from 7:15am until 8:45am every Thursday morning. We ask that you arrive on time for networking and stay until the end whenever possible.

3. Attendance is very important to the group. This is because you impart valuable input as a member, you are passing referrals and you are available to meet and greet guests. If a member cannot attend, a substitute should be sent in your place (not another member of the group). This does not count as an absence. A member is allotted three absences every six months. Concerns about attendance are addressed by the Membership Committee with the individual.

4. Leaves of Absence: There will be times where an individual will need to take some time off. There will be family and medical emergencies. Members are encouraged to have someone substitute for them during this time. If that is not possible, members need to allow the group to bring in a person in their profession as a fill-in during their absence.

5. Substitutes should provide the 60-second commercial and pass and receive referrals for the member they are representing. If the substitute’s business is not represented in the group, they may give their own commercial after the members have presented theirs.

6. Guests may attend a meeting up to three times before deciding if they would like to become a member. Guests cannot represent their own business if that position is already represented by an approved member of the group.

7. The selected speaker for the week brings a small door prize ($10 - $20) to be raffled off from the “I have” bag.

8. Members can and should address their concerns, complaints, compliments and/or ideas with a member of the Membership Committee for review.

9. Participation is imperative to the viability of our group. This means bringing bona-fide referrals, guests, having Dance Cards and giving testimonials. Participation is tracked and reviewed as needed.

10. If a member changes careers, please complete a new Application. Any dues that are paid will be transferred with you pending approval of the new position by the Membership Committee.

11. All memberships are reviewed for active contribution prior to dues being paid.

12. Elections are held every six months coinciding with membership dues. Two officers from the previous term are required to remain in an officer position for continuity and training purposes. There is not limit on the number of terms an officer can hold.

13. All policies and guidelines are subject to change. All members will be notified of changes as they occur.
